Elementary House Program

Program Overview

The Elementary House league program is designed for kids in grades 4-5 and provides an inclusive recreational basketball program. The Elementary league is intended to focus on player development in a safe, fun and positive environment.   While we do encourage our teams to play hard and win, the primary focus is to have fun and learn the game of basketball.

Evaluations

Evaluations are done at the beginning of the season for all Elementary House League participants.   We use the evaluation results to help us try and maintain parity within the division and grade level.  All kids who are registered on time are guaranteed to be placed on a team.

Evaluations are scheduled to take place in late-September through early-October.  Players are expected to attend one evaluation session at the designated time.  Schedules will be finalized and posted by September 1.

Division Structure/Placement

We have single grade-level divisions in the Elementary House League program.  Where numbers permit, we will subdivide the teams into East, Central and West geographic divisions for ease of scheduling.

The division commissioners and coaches select teams through a pre-season draft process based on the evaluation results, with the goal of maintaining parity within the division(s).  For this reason, we do not guarantee any requests for a certain coach, or for players to play together.

Season and Schedule

Season runs mid-November through mid-March.  Team practices are 1 night per week 60minutes per session.  Practices are scheduled between 6:15pm and 9:45pm (generally earlier for the Elementary divisions) at local elementary and middle school sites.  The scheduled practice nights and times are based on the coach's availability.   A scrimmage game is scheduled for the first weekend in December, followed by regular season games from December-February, excluding the winter holiday break.  The season ends with a post-season tournament which runs through early-March.  Practices schedules are posted on/about November 1.  Game schedules are posted on/about November 15.

The Middle School House league provides an environment to allow for further development in a fun, competitive league.  While we encourage our teams to play hard and win, the primary focus is to have fun and continue to build on the fundamentals of basketball.

We divide the Middle School players into grade level leagues based on the current year enrollment.  In addition, we further subdivide (as numbers permit) the leagues into school-based divisions - Lunsford, Mercer and Willard - for ease of scheduling and convenience for the players and coaches.
