DYS Cheer Program Overview

Welcome to the sport of Cheerleading!

Cheerleading is an exciting sport that provides an opportunity to build lifelong relationships while exploring fitness and teamwork. Our sideline cheer program is tailored to the abilities and needs of the participants, girls aged 5-14. We create a positive atmosphere for cheerleaders to learn about sportsmanship, safety and team building. We promise a wonderful experience for coaches, cheerleaders and parents!

Cheer Registration Information:

Your child must be between 5-14 years old by September 30 of the cheer season. Squads are formed according to age/grade level, coach ratios and school location. Sibling and special requests are considered on a case by case basis.

Registration fees cover all required DYS league fees, DYS Cheer activity costs and skirt/shell/pompom rental. A $100 deposit is required at uniform pick up. This is a refundable fee if all uniform pieces are returned clean and damage free. Families will provide all sundry uniform items and weather related gear.

DYS Cheer is a non-profit organization. As such, fundraising is an important part of the program. Please be aware that your child will be expected to participate in reasonable fundraising efforts during the season.

Practice and Game Information:

Squad practices will begin between late August and early September. Practices are held 1-2 times per week in an outside location in the local community. Practice days, times and location are at the discretion of the coach.

We cheer primarily at DYS Football home games. These games are typically on Saturdays and begin mid-September through early November. The schedule will not be available until mid-September. DYS Cheer also participates in several other events throughout the year, to include a year end performance!

Call for volunteers/coaches

DYS Cheerleading is 100% dependent on volunteers. We ALWAYS need coaches, squad parents, and league assistants. We encourage each family to volunteer in some capacity. The more help, the better the season will be for the girls! Please contact us to discuss coaching and volunteer opportunities!
