General Weather Guidelines for Track and Cross Country

For cold weather:

If the wind-chill temperature is below 40, practice will likely be cancelled. Cross country may be more tolerant of cold weather than spring track. The coaches will confirm cancellation via email.
If there is snow or ice on running surfaces, practice is cancelled.

For warm weather:

If we are under a code red day, practice will likely be cancelled. The coaches will confirm cancellation via email.
If we are under a code orange, practice is optional. The coaches will communicate with everyone via email on what to do.
If the "feels like" temperature is over 100, practice will almost always be cancelled. In the rare circumstances when it isn't, the coaches will communicate status via email.

Rain policies:

If there is lightning in the area 30 minutes prior to practice, wait for guidance via email on whether to come to practice. We will most likely not have practice if there is lightning in the area.
If there is unexpected lightning during practice, parents should return to practice if they have left. If it looks like it is an isolated incident we will wait 20 minutes as per Loudoun PRCS rules. Generally speaking if there is lightning, it is safe to assume practice will be over and you should come get your child.
If there is rain, Loudoun PRCS will update field status by 3pm. If our field is closed, practice is cancelled. If our field is open and there is light rain, we will hold practice. The coaches will communicate status via email.
